BSP Life Launches ‘Movement is Medicine’ FB Challenge to Inspire Wellbeing and Raise Awareness
BSP Life PNG today announced the launch of its ‘Movement is Medicine’ Facebook challenge, a month long social media campaign aimed at promoting wellness amongst Papua New Guinea’s younger population, a demographic increasingly vulnerable to premature mortality.
BSP Life has designed the ‘Movement is Medicine challenge’ to encourage and inspire young Papua New Guineans from ages 18 and older to move and practice healthy living while having fun on a platform that they are already active on.
BSP Life further aim to raise awareness around the importance of Life Insurance during the month of June in the lead up to the annual National Insurance Awareness Day on 28 June 2026.
BSP Life PNG, Country Manager – Nilson Singh said, “Papua New Guinea is experiencing a worrying rise in premature deaths among working‑age adults and young people. In 2025, our Life Insurance claims data revealed 110 recorded deaths with the average age at death alarmingly young — just 28 to 36 years old. The causes of these deaths range from lifestyle diseases to accidents and undiagnosed health conditions — but the financial impact on families is immediate and often devastating. Despite this, life insurance penetration remains critically low, particularly among our younger adults who often perceive it as something “for later.”
“As a business built on the purpose of championing prosperity for the South Pacific — BSP Life PNG recognises its responsibility to help shift this narrative. With the ‘Movement is Medicine’ challenge, we hope to encourage our younger generation, through the use of social media, to take up healthy habits now as opposed to later. We will also continue our efforts to educate them and the public on the importance of Life Insurance and the role it plays in safeguarding their future”, Singh said.
The Movement is Medicine Challenge is open to all Papua New Guineans with emphasis on young adults aged 18 years and above. Participants are invited to record and share short videos of themselves engaging in any form of physical activity involving sports, exercises, dancing, zumba, or any movement‑based activity that brings joy and vitality. Participants must upload their videos under the comments section of the official ‘Movement is Medicine’ campaign post which will be shared on the BSP Financial Group Limited Facebook Page.
Participants are encouraged to use the correct campaign hashtags, share the post and get their family and friends to like and react to their video uploads plus encourage others to join in the challenge. The top five videos with the highest number of likes and reactions will each be rewarded with K1, 000.
