Business Relationship Consultant – Lae

About the Role:

This position is based in Lae, and reports to the Business Relationship Manager of BSP Life PNG Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering all “end to end” life application movement processes, including application data entry and policy alterations within the Lae Sales Unit in accordance with BSP Life standards.

Key Deliverables:

  • Oversee the initial vetting of all life insurance applications, ensuring precise data entry, completion of necessary documentation, and conducting system checks for existing policyholders.
  • Accurately input data for new life insurance applications in alignment with business rules, while ensuring full compliance with AML/CTF Acts and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the vetting, evaluation, and issuance of all clean skin applications, escalating non-clean skin applications to Underwriting as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure any outstanding requirements, ensuring the timely completion of the application process.
  • Perform daily checks on life applications in suspense, proactively minimizing cancellations and lapses while optimizing conversion rates.
  • Collaborate with Insurance Advisors regarding policies that have been canceled or lapsed, and assess the feasibility of policy reinstatements.
  • Conduct daily follow-ups with Insurance Advisors to review progress against weekly plans, identifying areas where additional support may be required.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries directed to the office, ensuring resolution within a 24-hour turnaround time.
  • Address outstanding customer service matters with BSP Life Head Office, coordinating responses within a 24-hour turnaround time.
  • Provide consistent and well-balanced support to Insurance Advisors, ensuring their operational needs are met effectively.
  • Ensure proper management of office supplies, BSP Life PNG merchandise, and assets, maintaining high standards of office cleanliness and adherence to professional dress code policies.
  • Lead the management of the sales unit in the absence of the Business Relationship Manager, conducting meetings and delivering product presentations.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient filing system for information storage, adhering to the BSP Life Records Management Process.
  • Accurately and efficiently process all Cover Management functions, in accordance with BSP Life policies and business rules, within a 48-hour timeframe. This includes tasks such as:

– Adding/Changing Medical Conditions

– Updating Primary Insured details

– Correcting Date of Birth information

– Managing Lost Policies

– Processing Policy Cancellations, Terminations, and Reinstatements

  • Escalate all non-standard cases to the Underwriting team within 24 hours and ensure the processing of standard cases is in full compliance with the Underwriting charter.
  • Proactively review internal processes to identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency and process optimization.
  • Ensure that all communications and documentation adhere to BSP Life’s established standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external teams to ensure full compliance with all relevant BSP Life policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills & Experience:

  • Diploma in Insurance, Business Studies or Management related field.
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams, policyholders and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data accurately.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of the operations areas of sales, insurance policies, premium calculations and payment processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Sound knowledge of the industry legislative requirements and business rules with strict adherence to policies and procedures and process mapping.
  • Strong customer services ethic.
  • Proficient in oral and written English with the ability to explain highly detailed and technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.
  • 3 years’ work experience in a similar role with basic insurance knowledge.
